Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes Raffi different from other dog treats?

Raffi treats are made with 10 human grade ingredients and absolutely nothing artificial. We provide a complete nutritional panel showing exactly what's in every treat, including sugar and salt content that other brands aren't required to disclose.

Our treats are baked fresh in small batches in Canberra, Australia. No strong odours, no greasy residue, no mystery ingredients.

Why don't Raffi treats smell like other dog treats?

Most commercial dog treats use meat meals, artificial flavours, and preservatives that create strong odours. Raffi treats are made from fresh ingredients like peanut butter, banana, and pumpkin that smell pleasant to both dogs and humans.

Perfect for cafes, cars, or your handbag.

Are Raffi treats really human grade?

Yes. Every ingredient meets human food safety standards.

We source fresh produce from the same suppliers that supply the best restaurants. Fresh banana (not banana meal), real pumpkin (peeled, no skin or seeds), whole green peas.

If it's not good enough for us, it's not going in our dog treats.

How long do Raffi treats stay fresh?

12 months in sealed packaging thanks to our amazing natural preservation formulation.

Once opened, reseal the bag or store in an airtight container.

(Though let's be honest, your dog won't let them last that long.)

Why do you show a complete nutritional panel?

There is no legal requirement for pet treat manufacturers to disclose sugar and salt content in Australia.

We think that's not good enough. If you wouldn't buy human food without knowing the sugar content, why should your dog's treats be any different?

Our numbers:

  • Sugar: 0.7g per serving (naturally occurring, not added)
  • Sodium: 3mg per serving (naturally occurring, not added)

We're transparent because we have nothing to hide.

Are Raffi treats suitable for dogs with allergies?

Raffi treats contain no wheat and are made with naturally gluten free ingredients. No artificial colours, flavours, or preservatives. No added salt or sugar.

They do contain:

  • Peanuts
  • Eggs

Always check with your vet if your dog has specific allergies. Our simple ingredient list makes it easy to identify what your dog should avoid.

What does "human grade" actually mean?

Human grade means every ingredient meets the same safety and quality standards as food for people. This includes sourcing, processing, handling, and storage.

It's much higher than typical "pet food grade" ingredients, which can include by products and components not suitable for human consumption.

Why don't you use preservatives?

We do use preservation, just natural preservation.

Our unique formulation creates natural antimicrobial properties. Combined with our baking process that removes moisture, this gives us 12 month shelf life without artificial chemicals like BHA, BHT, or sodium benzoate.

Can puppies eat Raffi treats?

Yes, from 8 weeks old once they're eating solid food comfortably.

The small Raffi Bites are perfect for training, and our natural ingredients are gentle on developing digestive systems.

Remember: Treats should only be 10% of your puppy's daily calories. Adjust their regular food accordingly and consult your vet for specific dietary advice.

How many treats should I give my dog?

Follow the 10% rule, treats should be no more than 10% of your dog's daily calories.

General guide:

  • Small dogs (<10kg): 1-2 cookies or 3-5 bites per day
  • Medium dogs (10-25kg): 2-3 cookies or 5-8 bites per day
  • Large dogs (25kg+): 3-4 cookies or 8-12 bites per day

Consult your vet for specific dietary advice.

How should I store opened packages?

Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place. No refrigeration needed.

The resealable packaging helps maintain freshness if you don't transfer to a container.

Are these suitable for training?

Perfect for training.

Large cookies can be broken into smaller pieces for multiple rewards, or choose Raffi Bites which are specifically sized for training sessions.

Dogs love the taste, and the pleasant smell won't overwhelm indoor training.

What if my dog has never had treats before?

Start slowly. Give just a small piece initially to ensure your dog tolerates the new food well.

The natural peanut butter flavour is usually very appealing, but every dog is different. Some need time to develop a taste for new treats.

Do you ship Australia wide?

Yes. We ship to all Australian addresses except PO boxes.

Shipping rates:

  • Standard: $10 flat rate

Why don't you offer "free" shipping?

Same reason we're transparent about ingredients, we're transparent about costs.

"Free" shipping isn't actually free. Someone always pays. Instead of inflating our prices to hide shipping costs, we charge a flat rate.

Complete transparency. Honest pricing. No hidden costs or ingredients.

What's your return policy?

We offer the Raffi Happy Tail Guarantee.

If your dog doesn't love Raffi treats, we'll provide a full refund within 60 days. No questions asked.

How did you develop the recipes?

Months of testing and refinement. Each ingredient was chosen for a specific nutritional reason:

  • Peanut butter for protein
  • Pumpkin for fibre and vitamins
  • Coconut oil for healthy fats and natural preservation
  • Fresh banana for potassium

We tested extensively with dogs of all sizes and ages until we got it right.

Why are Raffi treats meat free?

Several reasons:

Practical: No strong odours, no greasy residue, easier to carry everywhere.

Nutritional: Plant based ingredients like peanut butter, pumpkin, and peas provide excellent nutrition. Easier on sensitive stomachs and perfect for dogs with meat allergies.

Quality: We can source exceptional fresh produce from local suppliers. Every ingredient serves a nutritional purpose.

Most importantly: Dogs absolutely love them. You don't need meat to make tails wag.
